Biography

Born in England, raised in Australia and — after 15 years of hard work — an "overnight" Hollywood success, this actress is as brilliant as she is gorgeous. Watts began studying acting Down Under and befriended Nicole Kidman at a commercial audition when the two were just teens. In their twenties they both appeared in the boarding-school drama Flirting, but Kidman's star rose much more quickly than Watts'. Throughout the '90s, Watts languished in supporting parts that failed to showcase her incredible versatility and knack for accents.
Yet, with a lot of encouragement from Kidman, she stuck it out and finally got her big break in 2001's Mulholland Dr. Originally conceived as a TV series, this offbeat chronicle of an L.A. starlet was released as a movie that featured Watts in two powerhouse parts. Audiences and critics immediately took notice of her talent, and the next year she finally hit the big time with the horror flick The Ring and made the tabloids because of her romance with hunk Heath Ledger, 10 years her junior. Watts continued her hot streak with an Oscar-nominated turn in 2003's 21 Grams and soon signed on to play an ape's best gal in the remake of King Kong. After her relationship with Ledger ended in 2004, she found new love in the arms of the more mature Liev Schreiber, her costar in The Painted Veil.

REESE WITHERSPOON BIOGRAPHY

Wednesday, February 29, 2012

Birth Name: Laura Jean Reese Witherspoon

Date of Birth: March 22, 1976

This Nashville, Tennessee born actess made a splash in her big screen debut, 1991's The Man in the Moon. Only 14 at the time, Witherspoon played the role of Dani Trant in the coming-of-age drama, which won rave reviews from critics. Witherspoon followed up this tremendous start with a Disney feature, A Far off Place and Jack the Bear, two family oriented movies which served to broaden her appeal to a wider audience.

Witherspoon soon made choices that moved her image away from the Disney scene, appearing in a string of Gen-X targeted movies, which were replete with angst and sexual overtones. First came a small role in S.F.W., a dark, satirical look at celebrity in which she played a prom queen held hostage along with a raving nobody. Then came Fear, a showcase of the dark side of teen love with Mark Wahlberg.

In 1998, Witherspoon appeared with screen legend Paul Newman in Twilight, followed by Pleasantville, opposite Tobey Maguire. A return to teen fare followed in 1999 with Cruel Intentions. Starring alongside other teen favorites of the moment Joshua Jackson, Sarah Michelle Gellar and Ryan Phillippe, the film was a modern day adaptation of Dangerous Liaisons. She also appeared opposite Matthew Broderick in the satire, Election, an MTV production about Tracy Flick, a manipulative young woman determined to become school president. Witherspoon earned a Golden Globe nomination for her performance.

She received her second Golden Globe nomination for her hit film Legally Blonde(2001). The success of the film propelled Witherspoon into becoming one of Hollywood's top female stars, and her next film, Sweet Home Alabama (2000) was number one at the box office for several weeks, earning over US $125 million at the domestic box office. For the sequel, Legally Blonde 2: Red, White & Blonde (2003), Witherspoon earned $15 million, a big jump from the $1 million she earned for the first Legally Blonde film.

Her career climbed new heights when she went from being not only an incredibly bankable actress to being an Academy Award winner, receiving the 2006 statuette for her performance as June Carter Cash in Walk the Line (2005). For the same role, she also received a 2006 Golden Globe and won awards from the National Society of Film Critics, the New York Film Critics Circle, The San Francisco Film Critics Circle and the Satellite Awards. Witherspoon can most recently be seen starring opposite Chris Pine and Tom Hardy in the comedy This Means War (2012).

Witherspoon, a vegetarian, married actor Ryan Phillippe in 1999 and they have a daughter, Ava Elizabeth and a son, Deacon. Unfortunately, their marriage fell apart in October 2006 when it became clear to Reese that Ryan had cheated on her. Witherspoon was named one of the 50 Most Beautiful People by People Magazine in 2002, and in 2003, she was voted Most Popular Actress by Entertainment Weekly readers.

Reese married Hollywood agent Jim Toth on March 26, 2011.

TIM HOWARD BIOGRAPHY

Friday, February 24, 2012

An American soccer player Timothy Matthew Howard (born March 6, 1979) his plays as a goalkeeper for English club Everton and the United States national team.

Howard started his career with the North Jersey Imperials before making a move to the MetroStars. His appearances soon attracted the attention of Manchester United, who signed him in 2003. He enjoyed relative success with them as they won the 2003 FA Community Shield, the 2003–04 FA Cup and the 2005–06 League Cup. However, after United signed Edwin van der Sar, Howard went out on loan to Everton to play more first-team football and eventually signed permanently with them in February 2007.

Howard first represented the United States national team in 2002 and was third-choice goalkeeper behind Kasey Keller and Marcus Hahnemann for the 2006 World Cup. He later established himself as first-choice and started all of the United States' games at the 2010 World Cup as they reached the Round of 16.

Howard was born in North Brunswick, New Jersey, to Matthew Howard – an African American, and Esther Howard (née Fekete), a native of Hungary. His parents divorced when he was three years old, and Howard lived with his mother, a project manager for a cosmetics distributor. His father, a long-distance truck driver for a health care firm, nonetheless maintained a presence in his life. His father was determined to get Howard and his brother, Chris, involved in sports. Before the two could walk, he bought them equipment for various sports to see which games they preferred. Tim showed a preference for basketball and soccer.

Howard was diagnosed with Tourette syndrome when he was in the sixth grade. Before Howard was a teenager, Tim Mulqueen, a one time assistant coach for the United States men's national under-17 soccer team, saw his potential at a soccer camp Howard attended and took the boy under his wing.

In high school, Howard proved a star not only in soccer as a midfielder, but also on the basketball court, where he averaged 15 points per game and helped bring his team to the state finals in his senior year. However his talent and abilities as a soccer player were far more impressive. Despite his position on his high school team, Howard was a far better goalkeeper than he was a midfielder. Howard spent the first years of high school attending Montclair Kimberley Academy, a small private school in Montclair, New Jersey. Howard left MKA in his junior year to go back to North Brunswick where he grew up, and graduated from North Brunswick Township High School. By the age of fifteen he began playing in goal for U.S. youth national teams. He made his international debut against Honduras on the U-17 squad. In 1997 Mulqueen became the coach of the North Jersey Imperials, a team in the United Systems of Independent Soccer Leagues (USISL), and served as the goalkeeping coach for Major League Soccer's MetroStars; he immediately considered Howard for a position on the Imperials. In May of that year, a month before graduating from high school, Howard played for the Imperials in his first professional game.
